Junior Activities Life Saving which is commonly known as “Nippers” is made up of infants, primary and secondary school aged children – Under 6 to Under 14 Age Group.
At North Entrance SLSC we have a unique program for our Tiny Tots from infants to under 4 age group. Learning to have fun at the beach and is the beginning of Surf Life Saving.
The aim of the North Entrance SLSC is to develop and educate Junior Activities Members where they learn about Surf Awareness and Safety, as required by the Surf Life Saving Australia ‘Surf ED’ program. Our focus is on participation and fun. We also promote progression and integration into the Senior ranks of the Club.
Nippers are on the beach each Sunday at 8.45am where we all meet in front of the Club House. Our Nippers are to line up in their Age Group where the Age Manager will mark off their Attendance.
Our JAC and or Water Safety Officer will speak to all Nippers about beach safety, surf conditions such as rip currents, sandbars and waves, upcoming events and news for parents so it’s important that everyone is there on time.
Our Rookies also learn some basic First Aid and may also learn CPR when they reach the age of 13. We may include our Nippers in learning basic First Aid, Surf Education if the weather conditions are not suitable to run Nippers.

Competition is also available to those who wish, at Interclub and State level throughout the season.Nippers are held each Sunday Morning throughout the summer season within the club.

In accordance with regulations from the Central Coast Branch, a child must have turned 5 prior to 30 September of the year that they are eligible to join Nippers. Children are registered in the age group according to the age of the child on 30 September. For example, if your child is 11 on 30 September, the child will be in the Under 12′s.

Members can be registered for the 2016/17 season using one of two methods – the paper based Membership form (available in the Library) on https://portal.sls.com.au, or via Surf Life Saving’s electronic systems.
In 2008, Surf Life Saving Australia introduced Lifesaving Online – a self-service membership system where members of the organisation could view and manage some aspects of their membership information.
However, in July 2015 Lifesaving online was replaced with a new Members Portal. As such membership renewals can be completed via https://portal.sls.com.au/.
Clubs wishing to direct new members to an electronic registration system can utilise the SLSA Join function, available on the SLSA Website – https://sls.com.au/join
Returning members can pick up pre-filled forms available at the Club.
Current membership fees are $60 each.
